story

My name is Erik Lynch and I am a Nordic Combined competitor. I was fortunate to grow up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado which provided me the opportunity to be both a cross-country skier and ski jumper. Early in my athletic career I was a three time U.S. Junior National Champion. I competed in World Junior Championships five years in a row. In 2012, I was named to the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team and competed internationally for two years. In 2014, I left competition for an extended time to overcome severe Lyme disease infections and related complications. After several years of full-time clinical treatment in different parts of the country, I never lost sight of my goals and vision. My ability to focus on the future kept me motivated to heal no matter how tough it got. I have a proven track record that I am capable of doing hard things. In the 2022-2023 season, I worked my way back to international competition by competing in three Nordic Combined World Cups and 15 FIS Nordic Combined Continental Cups. My dream is to win a Nordic Combined Olympic Medal.

When I am not training and competing, I enjoy backcountry skiing, surfing and hiking. Additionally, I volunteer my time at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and serve on the Board of the Rocky Mountain Division Nordic Combined & Ski Jumping Committee.

My life journey has provided me with the strength, knowledge, and desire to reach for my goals. I am grateful for my health and appreciate the support and opportunity to once again pursue my athletic career. Thank you!
