Tate's
Story
My name is Tate Frantz and I’m a 19 year ski jumper on the US National Team. Growing up with an active family in Lake Placid, New York I was introduced to many types of skiing from about the time I learned to walk. When I was 9 years old I got the opportunity to try ski jumping with our local club, NYSEF. From the first session I was hooked and had my sights set on something big. I spent my early years progressing to the bigger hills and won two US Junior National Championships at just 12 and 13 years old. This seemed to be a turning point for me realizing I could pursue my dreams of competing on the biggest stage in the world.
I started off this past season with 2 podiums at US Nationals which lead to me to the World Cup opener in Ruka, Finland. I started off strong with scoring the first World Cup points (top 30) of my career and snagging myself a spot on the World Cup circuit. The rest of the season was a blast where I ended with 4x top 20 finishes. The winter was highlighted at the Ski Flying World Championships where I jumped 218.5 meters and ended in 20th place as the top American. As the youngest athlete at the World Championships, this was also the top finish for any American in about 30 years. This awesome season also qualified me to the US National A team for the first time in my career.
I am looking forward to continuing strong into next season and I’m excited to see what I can achieve in the future. Thank you for supporting me and helping me to follow my dreams.
