I'm James Kanzler, born and raised in Tollgate Canyon outside Park City, Utah. When I was two years old, my parents strapped me into plastic Snoopy skis and before I knew it, I was launching off natural shaped mountain jumps. When I was six I joined a local ski team and began training on the Utah Olympic Park water ramps. I soon made my way to the park and found my passion for Slopestyle skiing. This sport has opened many doors for me. It’s giving me the opportunity to grow as an athlete, a student, and a true competitor for life. I have been a member of the Flying Ace Allstars team since I was 13 years old. I attend the Winter Sports School and will graduate this November right before my first World Cup in Austria. I earned a personal spot in the World Cup Tour after taking the podium as World Rookie Champion last April. I’ll be taking classes at the University of Utah after the season.
Outside skiing I love the outdoors, dirt biking, and playing golf.
All the hard work and commitment to training year round has allowed me to evolve into a world class freeskier and now the chance to compete amongst the leaders of the sport. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the continued support from my family, friends, teammates, coaches and generous scholarship awards from local non-profits in my small ski town community.
Thank you for the support and consideration :)
